Charlotte Moth

In Dolores, Charlotte Moth (1978) will be presenting a photographic slide installation constructed from three elements. The first is series of slides selected from the Travelogue (a collection of images begun in 1999), that reveals Moth’s preoccupation with seaside spaces and leisure locations. Environments and sculptural propositions that connect to actual phenomenological experiences of time and place. These images function as forms of residue and proposition at the same time. Here generative possibilities of ideas of places are established through the specific context created from the culture of collecting, this being the Travelogue. The second is an Island as method of display and form of real-time location built through the stacking of component-boxes, that have been “fixed” through a layering of plaster when in –situ. The third is a monologue; descriptions of the artist’s recollected experiences of certain places that choose within the monologue (like the images within the Travelogue) to remain anonymous but familiar.
