The images by Luuk Wilmering (1957, Haarlem NL) are always meticulously composed, tongue-in-cheek, and fully recognisable in their clarity and simplicity. They are somewhat tragic, touching in their sheer ordinariness, or even slightly dull in their triviality. Wilmerings work balances on the fine interface between life and art. In his photos, installations, films and writing, the artist himself nearly always occupies the leading role. But now, in this show, you see a tendency to focus on his immediate surroundings and the astonishing moments he is able to distillate out of his daily life.
Exhibition: 18/12/99 – 22/01/00
