This painting belongs to a series of works that explore motherhood, women, and spirituality, They challenge tradional views that often limit women to procreaton in African societies. Adebowale's art serves as a platform for dialogue and awareness regarding feminism, gender, sexuality, and sexual taboos. She finds inspiration in traditonal objects and symbols of femininity across diverse cultures, particularly in her recent exploration of the Akwaaba fertility dolls of the Ashan region in Ghana, Ere-ibeji twin memorial dolls of Yoruba culture in Nigeria, and Linga Koba courtship dolls of the Ndebele people in Southern Africa. In the work, Adebowale creates robust yet delicate storytelling paintings that become vessels of stories passed down through generations.
