Tyna Adebowale is one of the participating artists in the group exhibition Good Mom/Bad Mom at Centraal Museum Utrecht.
The exhibition offers a contemporary reflection on the art-historical cliché of the ‘good mother’ and takes visitors on a journey through the history of the representation of motherhood: from time-honoured, stereotypical and often romanticised mother-and-child portrayals to works by new and exciting generations of artists who deal with this theme in their own - and often very personal - way. In thematic cabinets - ‘time capsules’ - topics such as abortion and self-determination are given historical and social interpretation, offering starting points for discussion. It has been curated by Laurie Cluitmans and Heske ten Cate.
The exhibition is on view until September 14, 2025.
